Kyle Horst is currently in his 5th year of study in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University. In May 2020 he will graduate with an Integrated Bachelor/Master of Architectural Engineering degree, with a focus in mechanical systems. Kyle is a member of the Penn State student chapter of ASHRAE, and he has been selected to participate in the pilot BIM thesis program. Before coming to Penn State Kyle graduated valedictorian from his high school class.
During the past two summers Kyle has participated in two internships in the Washington, DC area for two highly esteemed companies. The first was with Southland Industries, a mechanical contracting firm, and the second was with the Architectural Engineering firm SmithGroup. During both internships, Kyle gained valuable experience and was able to develop his mechanical design skills while assisting with equipment sizing and selection, airside layout, energy and load analysis, and site survey work. In addition, he gained experience using software such as AutoCad, Revit MEP, Trane Trace, and Microsoft Excel. Kyle will gain EIT status upon graduation, and he looks forward to pursuing his professional engineering license in the future.
Over his previous four years at University Park, Kyle has been very involved with the campus ministry Alliance Christian Fellowship where he has been on the executive leadership team for three years. With this campus ministry, he has also been able to get involved with leading Bible Studies, mentoring younger students, and several mission trips. Kyle enjoys playing golf, tennis and beach volleyball.
After graduation Kyle will be working with James Posey Associates in Baltimore, Maryland as a graduate engineer. He will be marrying his lovely fiance Casey Spears on October 16, 2010.
